pinkerton is the second studio album by the american rock band weezer, released on september 24, 1996, by dgc records. the guitarist and vocalist rivers cuomo wrote most of pinkerton while studying at harvard university, after abandoning plans for a rock opera, songs from the black hole. it was the last weezer album to feature the bassist matt sharp, who left in 1998. to better capture their live sound, weezer self-produced pinkerton, creating a darker, more abrasive album than their self-titled 1994 debut. cuomo's lyrics express loneliness and disillusionment with the rock lifestyle. the title comes from the character bf pinkerton from giacomo puccini's 1904 opera madama butterfly, whom cuomo described as an "asshole american sailor similar to a touring rock star". like madama butterfly, pinkerton views japanese culture from the perspective of an outsider who considers japan fragile and sensual.l'amour de ma vie [extended edit] - billie eilish

hailing from the north, vancouver, b.c., where most music is made in the garage, gaze are more attic-style, souvenirs and memories held up to a different light. here's a whole new album's worth fourteen songs of the kinda sadness/gladness gaze set to motion. miko hoffman, megan mallett, and rose melberg bend deep powder borne songs into harmony and humming form.動物園釘子戶 (zoo nail house) - zoogazer
(this is some random review lol) one thing i've come to appreciate after visiting a number of times is the very high calibre of pop musicianship in china. this 2018 collection from zoo gazer is a perfect example. understand this: i hardly understand a word of chinese, but the vocals here easily work well enough as instruments in their own right, and the stuff is just straight up pop catchy--like pop is supposed to be. i love listening to this.
